Dawah means inviting people to learn about Islam. Our videos do that by recording real conversations with members of the public and sharing them on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram.
A project of One True Message Foundation, registered charity 1206615.
Many people form their view of Islam from news reports and social media, and seldom hear Muslims explain their beliefs directly. Our dawah media work puts ordinary questions about faith in front of a large audience, along with clear answers.
Much of what we publish is street dawah. Members of our team set up on the street and talk with people who are willing to stop and discuss religion. The conversations cover subjects such as who Jesus was, what Muslims believe about God, why Muslim women wear the hijab, and whether religion is a cause of violence. Some of the people we speak with are Christians, some are atheists and some have never thought much about religion at all. Some of the videos show people deciding to become Muslim.
Alongside the longer conversations we publish short clips that work well on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts. They carry the addresses of FreeQurans.co.uk and BecomeMuslim.com, so that anyone who wants to go further knows where to find a free Qur'an or someone to talk to.
The videos are made for people who are not Muslim and have questions about Islam, as well as for Muslims who want to understand their own faith better and learn how to explain it. The channel description puts it as sharing the message of Islam and supporting new Muslims on their journey into Islam.
We try to answer questions honestly and from the sources of Islam, the Qur'an and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. When we discuss Christianity we refer to the Bible directly, because many of the people we meet are Christian and it is the text they know. We aim to be courteous to everyone who takes part, including people who disagree with us.
If you want to prepare for conversations like these yourself, our DawahBible project collects the Bible passages and arguments that come up most often.
These are a few of our recent short videos. Each one opens on YouTube.
If you have experience in filming, editing or social media and would like to help, we would like to hear from you.
