About us

One True Message Foundation is a UK charity that helps people learn about Islam. We make videos that reach a large audience online, send free Qur'ans to non-Muslims, and run websites that answer questions and support people who are becoming Muslim.

Our purpose

Every charity in England and Wales has charitable objects, which set out what it exists to do. Ours are recorded by the Charity Commission as follows:

“To advance the religion of Islam primarily, but not exclusively in the UK for the benefit of the public through the holding of lectures, workshops and classes, and producing and/or distributing literature to enlighten others about the Islamic religion.”

Put simply, we want anyone who is curious about Islam to be able to learn about it from its sources, ask their questions and get honest answers. Everything we do is free to the people it is meant for.

What we do and where

Our work is organised into projects, each with its own name and website:

  • Dawah media: street dawah conversations and short videos about Islam on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, filmed with members of the public.
  • FreeQurans: free English translations of the Qur'an, posted to non-Muslims in the UK and the US who would like to read it for themselves.
  • BecomeMuslim: a step by step guide to understanding Islam and becoming Muslim, with a short form for anyone who would like personal help to take their shahada.
  • Welcome to Islam: a guided support hub for new Muslims in the UK: learning to pray, the first thirty days, a volunteer mentor and a directory of welcoming mosques.
  • AskIslam: a free WhatsApp chat for questions about Islam, with plain-language answers that cite the Qur'an and hadith, at any time of day.
  • DawahBible: a searchable library of Bible contradictions, parallels with Islam and the scholarship behind them, with an AI partner for practising conversations.

We have also published a booklet, Understanding Islam: A Brief Overview, which anyone can read online, listen to or download. From time to time we have run appeals for people affected by emergencies.

The Charity Commission lists us as operating throughout England. In practice our reach is wider. Free Qur'ans are posted to readers in both the UK and the United States, and our videos and websites can be used anywhere in the world.

How we work

The charity is overseen by a board of three trustees and supported by a team of volunteers. No trustee is paid by the charity.

We try to explain Islam clearly, honestly and courteously, using its own sources: the Qur'an and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. We never pressure anyone. People who ask for a Qur'an or for a call are under no obligation, and they can take as long as they need to think about what they have read and heard.

Many of the people we help are meeting us for the first time, and some are at a sensitive point in their lives. We take our responsibilities to them seriously. Our safeguarding policy sets out how we protect children and adults at risk, and our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
